PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between David Drexter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Linekar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that David Drexter has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily David Drexter seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Drexter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aaron Linekar!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shirou Masuda and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Linekar gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Linekar misses with a few strikes there.
Linekar throws a nice looking combination but Drexter bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Drexter throws a right and a left that Linekar avoids nicely.

and Drexter counters with a series of strikes. Linekar will be more careful next time no doubt.
Linekar leaves Drexter with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Linekar fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Linekar fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Drexter checks it well.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Linekar enables Drexter to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Linekar manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Drexter won't allow Linekar to get back to his feet.

Linekar pulls Drexter in close to prevent any damage.

Drexter remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Linekar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Drexter wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Drexter is looking to take a break and control but Linekar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Drexter looks up at the clock and then as Linekar takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Drexter smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Linekar is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Drexter asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Drexter manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Linekar on his heels. He'll look to pass Linekar's guard now, I'm sure.

Drexter feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Linekars jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Drexter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Linekar was covering up waiting for the punch and Drexter finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
