PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aldo Raine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Volk Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raine's entrance music is House Mafia - Greyhound . A fine choice. The key to victory for Aldo Raine has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aldo Raine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Volk Khan!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raine throws a predictable looking body shot

and Khan counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Khan.
Khan is looking for a takedown.
Raine unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Raine is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Raine lands a nice uppercut.
Khan has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Raine after a bit of a struggle.

Raine has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Khan is trying to keep an underhook but Raine manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Raine wants to take a breather but Khan is having none of it.
Khan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Raine is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Khan sees it coming and defends easily.
Raine is looking to take a break and control but Khan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Raine is taking a breather. Khan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Raine wants to lay and pray for a moment but Khan keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Aldo Raine just wasn't active enough.

Raine clinches.

Raine tightens his grip and picks Khan up, before dumping him to the ground. Khan manages to land in guard.

Khan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Raine is aware though and is defending well.
Raine tries to stand but Khan is controlling from the bottom.

Khan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Raine trying to control but Khan is working from the bottom.
Khan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Raine wants to control from the top but Khan keeps moving.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Raine stands up and waves to Khan to follow him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Raine closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Khan quickly recovers to half guard.
Raine throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Khan is looking for a sweep. Raine is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Raine wants to pass to mount but Khan is defending the position.
Khan is trying to control but can't.
Nice strikes from Raine there.

Khan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Raine pulls his head out easily.
Khan slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Raine trying to stand up but can't free himself from Khan's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Khan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Raine's guard.
Khan tries to free his leg and advance position but Raine is retaining full guard.
Khan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Raine's guard.

Raine kicks Khan off and gets back to his feet.

Raine gets a clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Khan takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Khan has Raine pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Raine manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Aldo Raine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Volk Khan.
Raine gets underhooks to prevent Khan's takedown attempt.

Raine breaks from the clinch.
Khan tries to clinch there but Raine circles away.

Raine fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Khan to the ground. Raine is now in Khan's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Raine stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Khan doesn't manage to clinch there - Raine circles away.
Khan tries to clinch there but Raine circles away.

Raine gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Raine turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Raine manages to end up in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Khan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Raine looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Raine thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
You can see the frustration on Khan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Khan tries to improve position but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aldo Raine dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Khan tries to clinch but Raine moves out of range.

Raine shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Raine was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Raine is working for a guillotine from mount but Khan frees his head quite easily.
Khan is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Raine tries to control but Khan wriggling away.
Khan gets back to half guard.
Khan wants to control but Raine is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Raine is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Khan is just riding it out for now. Raine eventually gives up the hold.

Khan wants to improve his position but Raine is controlling well.

Raine is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Raine is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Aldo Raine overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Raine stands and steps away. Khan gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Khan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Raine is one step ahead there.

Raine gets to his feet - Khan follows without any prompting.

Raine shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Raine was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Khan is breathing heavily.
Raine trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Raine prevents Khan from getting the reversal.

Raine with shots to the head and body - Khan looks very uncomfortable down there.

Raine get's back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Raine fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Khan, pushing him back against the cage.

Raine lands a takedown into guard.
Khan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Raine throws a big elbow that misses.
Raine wants to stand but Khan has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Khan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Raine gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aldo Raine dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Raine gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Raine has hold of one of Khan's legs. Khan is fighting the takedown attempt but Raine gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Khan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Raine is working away from the top position though.
Raine lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Khan wants to improve his position but Raine is controlling well.
Khan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Raine stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Khan to get to his feet.
A combination from Raine does no damage.

Raine closes the distance and clinches.

Raine lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Khan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Raine's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Raine's back!
Raine can't escape the position.

Khan seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Raine's chin but Raine turns very nicely into Khan's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Raine.

Raine would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Raine gets to his feet - Khan follows without any prompting.

Raine has picked Khan up - he's going for a ride! Raine dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Raine is trying to work for a kimura but Khan is defending well.
Raine wants to stand but Khan has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Raine passes the guard and advances to mount!

Raine is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Khan to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Khan shrugs it off.
Khan is looking to improve his position but Raine isn't that keen on the idea.
Aldo Raine is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Khan sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Raine seems to be looking for submissions.

Raine stalling.
Raine passes to side control.
You can see the frustration on Khan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Volk Khan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Raine is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Khan can do to turn this around?

Well Raine has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
