Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Ferguson! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson clinches with his opponent.
Jackson decides to pull guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Ferguson wants to stand but Jackson has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Ferguson wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving. Ferguson lands a couple of digs. Ferguson forces his way into half guard. Ferguson is thwarting Jackson's attempts to control the position. Jackson is not content to let Ferguson control the position. Jackson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson wants to sweep but no luck. Ferguson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Ferguson trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jackson has his foot on Ferguson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ferguson works his way back into a safe position though. Ferguson looking to pass the guard. Ferguson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jackson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Jackson can't keep his opponent in guard - Ferguson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Jackson is trying to control but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ferguson wants to take a breather but Jackson is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ferguson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jackson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Jackson holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Ferguson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Ferguson is trying to control the action in half guard but Jackson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Jackson is defending against the submission attempts here by Ferguson.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ferguson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working. Jackson manages to get to full guard.
Jackson looking for a sweep. Not yet Jackson, not yet. Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ferguson on the ground. Ferguson wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving. Jackson is trying to keep Ferguson in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Josh Ferguson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ferguson. A punch combination from Ferguson misses. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jackson misses with a looping left. Ferguson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jackson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ferguson somewhat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jackson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Jackson is working Ferguson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Jackson wants to pass the guard but Ferguson is keeping the position. Ferguson trying to control the position.

Ferguson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard. Ferguson working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Jackson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Jackson wants to stand but Ferguson is controlling the position. Ferguson gets to his feet - Jackson follows without any prompting.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson wants to clinch. Jackson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ferguson can pounce on him.
Ferguson tries to clinch but Jackson is having none of it. Jackson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jackson working the head and body with strikes. Ferguson tries to bench press Jackson off him but Jackson keeps the position. Ferguson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Jackson lands a few punches from side control. Ferguson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Jackson is concentrating on defense, preventing Ferguson from advancing position. Jackson gets full guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jackson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ferguson manages to get himself to full guard.
Jackson won't allow Ferguson to get back to his feet. Jackson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Ferguson trying to control the position.
James Jackson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jackson is in close to Ferguson's body, working some short punches and elbows. Josh Ferguson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Ferguson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
