Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Colt Williams! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rufus Dreyer! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams scores with a head kick.
Dreyer drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Williams is on top in guard.
Dreyer seems keen to control Williams's posture. Dreyer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Dreyer keeping moving, preventing Williams from controlling successfully. Williams throwing strikes from guard but Dreyer blocks nicely. Dreyer has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Dreyer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Williams but Williams pushes him off and we're back to square one. Dreyer has a takedown stuffed. Dreyer misses with a series of wild punches.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Williams is looking to stand up but Dreyer won't let him. Williams shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dreyer but Dreyer pushes him off and we're back to square one. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Williams throws a right hand that Dreyer ducks under and follows up with a left that Dreyer also avoids with ease. Williams throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Dreyer fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Williams, pushing him back against the cage. Dreyer prevents Williams from breaking the clinch. Dreyer stops a takedown attempt from Williams.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Dreyer holds on and takes a little breather. Dreyer is breathing heavily. Williams wants to stand but Dreyer is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dreyer throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Williams scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Dreyer working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Williams. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dreyer looking for a sweep. Not yet Dreyer, not yet. Williams trying to control but Dreyer is working from the bottom. Dreyer seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Dreyer moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. A head kick misses from Williams. Williams stalks Dreyer and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Dreyer's face. Dreyer staggers backwards, shaken. The fight stays on the outside here - Williams looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Williams closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dreyer to the mat! Dreyer manages to get full guard. Williams loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Dreyer controls Williams momentarily but Williams frees himself. Dreyer keeping moving, preventing Williams from controlling successfully.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Williams closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Williams lands in his opponent's guard. Dreyer tries to land a sweep but no joy. The ground and pound from Williams seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Dreyer sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Dreyer is controlling Williams's trapped leg to prevent Williams from advancing to side control. Williams thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dreyer's head. Williams sitting and controlling from the half guard. Williams wants to control but Dreyer is keeping him busy. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Williams is thwarting Dreyer's attempts to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dreyer moves into the clinch. Dreyer drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Williams gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Williams throws a right and a left that both miss. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dreyer. A head kick misses from Williams. Dreyer throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Dreyer has taken the fight to the clinch.
Williams gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Williams is trying to break free. Nice elbow from Williams. Williams can't break the clinch.
Williams wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dreyer has him pressed against the cage. Dreyer landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Dreyer is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Williams gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Williams avoiding damage as Dreyer throws knees to the body.
