Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ryuu Matsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Jacobson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryuu Matsumoto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryuu Matsumoto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jake Jacobson! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matsumoto shoots in and drives through. Jacobson sprawls well. Jacobson misses with a head kick.

Jacobson gets caught flat footed, as Matsumoto shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Matsumoto controlling from the top position. Matsumoto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jacobson swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Matsumoto seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Jacobson controls Matsumoto momentarily but Matsumoto frees himself. Matsumoto sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jacobson throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Jacobson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Matsumoto! Poor strikes thrown by Jacobson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Matsumoto holds of for dear life. Matsumoto is looking to improve his position but Jacobson isn't that keen on the idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Jacobson tries to control but Matsumoto wriggling away. Matsumoto really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Matsumoto tries to reverse the position but Jacobson maintains control. Matsumoto might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Matsumoto wants to hold on but Jacobson pushes him away. Matsumoto is looking to get to half guard. Jacobson thowing shots but they're missing. Matsumoto wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Jacobson.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jacobson trying to control the action but Matsumoto is working from the bottom. Matsumoto wants to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ryuu Matsumoto will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Matsumoto drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Matsumoto drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jacobson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jacobson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jacobson! Matsumoto can't do much from the bottom here. An elbow from Jacobson crashes against the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round. Matsumoto is looking for a sweep. I wouldn't like to be where Matsumoto is right now. Matsumoto struggling a bit here. Jacobson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Matsumoto looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Matsumoto avoids the head kick by Jacobson.
Jake Jacobson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Matsumoto shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jacobson's guard. Jacobson looking for a sweep. Not yet Jacobson, not yet. Matsumoto stays in close to Jacobson's body and controls the position.

Matsumoto looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Matsumoto controls the position from side control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ryuu Matsumoto dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Jacobson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Jacobson wants to stand and escape but Matsumoto is having none of it. Matsumoto is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Matsumoto works a leg free and moves into half guard. Matsumoto seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Jacobson trying to control here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Matsumoto seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jacobson for as long as he can get away with. Matsumoto is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Jacobson wants to control but Matsumoto is having none of it. Jacobson working to try and regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Jacobson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Matsumoto has him pressed against the cage. Jacobson can't break the clinch.
Jacobson stalling in the clinch but Matsumoto improves position. Jacobson lands a nice knee to the body. Matsumoto has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jacobson regains guard immediately. Matsumoto showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Jake Jacobson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Matsumoto passes into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Ryuu Matsumoto showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Matsumoto, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
