The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hester tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bass swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bass will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Bass might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hester kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hester drives through and clinches with Bass against the cage.

Bass is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hester is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hester is trying to maintain the position but Bass is very close to passing his half guard.

Bass wants to control from the top but Hester keeps moving.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bass jumps guard but Hester stands there with Bass around his waist. Bass gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Hester fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bass shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bass showed some decent athleticism there.
Hester makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hester.
Hester is looking for a triangle but Bass pushes his legs off easily.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Bass checks a leg kick.

Bass tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hester smiles and moves away.

and Bass counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hester!
Hester really wants to buck Bass off and get back to his feet.
Bass lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Bass has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hester's face.

Hester is in a horrible position here. Bass smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Bass has control of Hester's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hester regains control of the situation pretty easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bass cracks Hester with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Bass looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hester with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
