PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tadayoshi Ishimaru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terrance Pingshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ishimaru comes into the arena with Break blaring out of the sound system. Pingshaw has chosen Heart of a Champion as his entrance music. Terrance Pingshaw will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tadayoshi Ishimaru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Terrance Pingshaw!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pingshaw throws a poor cross that misses
and Ishimaru counters with a nice body shot.
Pingshaw displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ishimaru throws out the jab.
Pingshaw ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Pingshaw throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pingshaw throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Ishimaru counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Pingshaw throws a shot from downtown. Ishimaru moves away and avoids it.
Pingshaw walks into a straight right hand from Ishimaru.
Pingshaw misses with a series of wild punches.

Ishimaru tries to sprawl but Pingshaw drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Pingshaw is trying to control. Ishimaru wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Ishimaru is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Pingshaw thows a huge punch but Ishimaru dodges it nicely.

Ishimaru is in trouble now - Pingshaw has advanced to mount!

Ishimaru on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ishimaru tries to get out of the position.

Pingshaw has hold of Ishimaru's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ishimaru manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Pingshaw is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Pingshaw takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Ishimaru is looking to improve his position but Pingshaw isn't that keen on the idea.
Ishimaru tries to hold on but Pingshaw pushes him away.
Ishimaru is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pingshaw is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Pingshaw looking to secure an arm triangle but Ishimaru defends it well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ishimaru is in all sorts of trouble here.

Ishimaru might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Pingshaw tries for a takedown but Ishimaru sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ishimaru fails to land with a series of punches.

Pingshaw ducks right into an uppercut from Ishimaru.
Pingshaw throws a lazy right hand but Ishimaru sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ishimaru uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pingshaw.
Ishimaru lands a jab.
Pingshaw tries to close the distance and clinch but Ishimaru swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pingshaw steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ishimaru.
Ishimaru stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ishimaru wants it to stay on the feet.
Pingshaw misses with a low kick.
Pingshaw fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Tadayoshi Ishimaru has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Terrance Pingshaw.

Ishimaru swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Ishimaru sizes up Pingshaw with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Ishimaru avoids the body shot from Pingshaw.
Ishimaru takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Pingshaw throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Pingshaw drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Pingshaw is looking to take a break and control but Ishimaru is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Pingshaw is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ishimaru has escaped the position, nice work there.
Pingshaw works to advance to full mount. Ishimaru defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Ishimaru knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pingshaw on the ground.

Ishimaru is looking to improve his position but Pingshaw isn't that keen on the idea.

BOOM! Pingshaw connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Terrance Pingshaw has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pingshaw looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Pingshaw tries to control but Ishimaru wriggling away.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Pingshaw wants to finish this one by submission but Ishimaru is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Pingshaw.

Pingshaw shoots for a double leg takedown but Ishimaru sprawls well. He's pushed Pingshaw's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pingshaw looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Pingshaw works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Ishimaru walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Ishimaru checks a leg kick.

Pingshaw will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The crowd cheers as Ishimaru lands an impressive looking overhand right. Pingshaw doesn't seem phased though.

Pingshaw manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ishimaru on his heels. He'll look to pass Ishimaru's guard now, I'm sure.

Well Pingshaw has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
