Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alexander Gustafsson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tito Ortiz! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gustafsson fails with the takedown. Gustafsson doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ortiz counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Alexander Gustafsson has been cut. Gustafsson throws a lazy head kick and Ortiz holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Ortiz slows down the pace here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ortiz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Ortiz shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gustafsson defends it nicely. Ortiz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gustafsson circles away. Gustafsson misses with an attempted mid kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gustafsson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ortiz is fending him off so far but Gustafsson persists. Nope, Ortiz circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alexander Gustafsson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gustafsson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ortiz quickly recovers to half guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Gustafsson missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Gustafsson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Gustafsson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ortiz has managed to free his arm - good work. Ortiz looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Gustafsson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ortiz's head.
