Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Njord Freyr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ethan Pemberton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Njord Freyr! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ethan Pemberton! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pemberton shoots in looking for a takedown. Freyr tries to sprawl out of it but Pemberton keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Freyr manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Freyr lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Freyr swings for the body but Pemberton moves out of range.
Pemberton shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Freyr as he avoids it easily. Pemberton misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Njord Freyr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ethan Pemberton. Nice sprawl there from Freyr as Pemberton shoots in. Freyr jabs at Pemberton's body. Freyr works Pemberton's body with a nice hook. Pemberton looks gassed! Freyr throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Pemberton stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Freyr lands with an overhand left. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Freyr bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Freyr with a body punch. A glancing blow. Freyr misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pemberton.
Pemberton shoots for a double leg takedown but Freyr sprawls well. He's pushed Pemberton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Freyr is looking to wear down Pemberton with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Freyr lands a jab-cross combination. Freyr ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Pemberton shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pemberton showed some decent athleticism there. Pemberton wants to work for an arm triangle but Freyr is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Freyr wants to improve his position but Pemberton is controlling well.
Freyr avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pemberton. Pemberton wants to control but Freyr is keeping him busy. Freyr keeping hold of Pemberton's head, controlling as best he can. Pemberton is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Freyr controlling the position for now. Pemberton thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Freyr's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. A jab from Freyr finds it's way through Pemberton's defenses. Pemberton shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Freyr as he avoids it easily. A shot to de liver by Freyr. Beautiful body shot. Freyr cracks a nice hook into Pemberton's ribs. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Freyr looks to score with a jab to the body but Pemberton is just out of range. Freyr gets caught flat footed, as Pemberton shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Pemberton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pemberton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Pemberton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pemberton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Freyr keeping moving, preventing Pemberton from controlling successfully. Pemberton is fighting to break Freyr's control of his arms but Freyr is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Freyr wants to sweep here but Pemberton controlling him for the moment. Pemberton tries to stand but Freyr is controlling from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Freyr is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Pemberton has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Pemberton takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Njord Freyr is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pemberton throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Freyr's waist but Freyr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pemberton off to one side. Pemberton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Pemberton passes Freyr's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Freyr is looking to improve his position.
Freyr holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Pemberton works his foot free and advances to mount. Freyr on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Freyr tries to get out of the position. Pemberton working for a submission but Freyr is keeping him at bay. Freyr really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pemberton quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Pemberton but it's paid off an Freyr is forced to tap! Nice work by Pemberton.
