Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Ko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aengus OŽDonnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). OŽDonnell comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Dropkick Murphys - Worker's Song kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Ivan Ko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aengus OŽDonnell!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from OŽDonnell.
OŽDonnell misses with a straight right.
OŽDonnell tries for a takedown but Ko sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
OŽDonnell connects with the punch.
Ko really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ko avoids the body shot from OŽDonnell.
A punch combination from OŽDonnell misses.
OŽDonnell keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ko swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ko thuds his right hand into OŽDonnell's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Ko tries to close the distance and clinch up but OŽDonnell swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ko throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
OŽDonnell throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Ko defending well as OŽDonnell loads up on a big left hand.
Ko slips under a jab from OŽDonnell.
OŽDonnell misses with a lunging right hand

and Ko counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Ko scores with a shoulder strike.
Ko pushes OŽDonnell back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

OŽDonnell has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ko is trying to keep an underhook but OŽDonnell manages to get the takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ko wants to get back to full guard.
Ko is not content to let OŽDonnell control the position.
Ko keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
OŽDonnell is taking a breather. Ko says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
OŽDonnell throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Ko to regain full guard.
OŽDonnell missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
OŽDonnell tries to free his leg and advance position but Ko is retaining full guard.
Ko pulls OŽDonnell in close to prevent any damage.
OŽDonnell throws an elbow that misses. Ko uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in OŽDonnell's guard. Nice move by Ko!
Ko trying to control but OŽDonnell is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
OŽDonnell looking for a sweep. Not yet OŽDonnell, not yet.

OŽDonnell is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ko is aware though and is defending well.

OŽDonnell looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

OŽDonnell throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Ko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. OŽDonnell swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OŽDonnell is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

OŽDonnell looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
OŽDonnell throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ko trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ko has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

OŽDonnell working for a triangle but Ko defends it easily.
Ko will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
OŽDonnell keeping moving, preventing Ko from controlling successfully.

OŽDonnell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ko defends well.

Ko is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but OŽDonnell has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Ko is looking to defend but OŽDonnell has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Ko! OŽDonnell pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Ko taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Aengus OŽDonnell!
