0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Conner Kent! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kent falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Obama to counter with a crisp jab. Nice sprawl there from Kent as Obama shoots in. Kent darts in and clinches Obama up against the cage. Obama lands with a short head shot on the inside. Obama is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Kent is keeping busy. Kent working aggressively here.
Obama is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Obama is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kent pulls him back up using the underhooks. Obama is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kent is defending well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Barrack Obama. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kent breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Obama throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Kent gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. The ref stands the fighters back up because Barrack Obama just wasn't active enough. Obama shoots for a double leg takedown but Kent sprawls well. He's pushed Obama's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Obama ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Obama no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Obama will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Obama looking for a sweep. Not yet Obama, not yet. Obama controls Kent momentarily but Kent frees himself. Obama has his foot on Kent's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kent works his way back into a safe position though. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Obama will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Obama has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kent can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Obama working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Kent tries to reverse the position but Obama maintains control. Obama has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Obama controlling from the full mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Obama with shots to the head and body - Kent looks very uncomfortable down there. Kent regains half guard. Kent is trying to maintain the position but Obama is very close to passing his half guard. Obama works his way into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Obama working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kent can do anything to dispel that myth.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Barrack Obama. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Obama, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
