Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yoshi Doi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Laws (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshi Doi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rick Laws! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Hirohito Nitta and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laws throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Doi gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Laws. Doi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Laws sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Doi somewhat. Laws misses with a jab, cross combination.
Doi drives through and clinches with Laws against the cage.
Laws stops a takedown attempt from Doi.
Laws wants to break free but Doi has control.
Doi jumps guard but Laws stands there with Doi around his waist. Doi gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yoshi Doi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Laws has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Doi tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Laws's elbow. Doi jumps into guard, dragging Laws to the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Laws wants to pass the guard but Doi is keeping the position. Doi manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Laws keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laws bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Laws got a little sloppy there for a moment and Doi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Laws has managed to get both his arms back between Doi's legs - danger averted. Laws wanted to stand there but Doi had control of the position. Doi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Laws doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Laws manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Laws trying to stand up but can't free himself from Doi's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Doi has his foot on Laws's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Laws works his way back into a safe position though. Doi not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Laws throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Doi wants to sweep but no luck. Laws wanted to stand there but Doi had control of the position. Laws postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Doi has his foot on Laws's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Laws works his way back into a safe position though. Doi manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Doi in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Laws manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes. Laws is trying to stand up here but Doi is controlling him well. Nice strikes from Doi there. Doi thows a huge punch but Laws dodges it nicely.

Laws blocking the ground and pound attempt from Doi. Doi is taking a breather. Laws says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Doi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Laws does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Laws tries to get to full guard but Doi has control of the leg. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Laws can do anything to dispel that myth. Doi sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Laws defending well though. Doi is trying to control the action in half guard but Laws is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Doi not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Doi not doing much here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Yoshi Doi wasn't doing enough on the ground. Doi slips under a jab from Laws. Laws defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Doi. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Yoshi Doi dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Laws circles away from the clinch attempt.
Doi explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Doi shoots in and drives through. Laws sprawls well. Laws connects with a good right hand that stumbles Doi. Doi circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Laws lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Doi circles away quickly and effectively. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Doi. Laws throws a shot from downtown. Doi moves away and avoids it. Laws swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Doi shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Laws is trying to defend but Doi finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Doi is trying to control. Laws wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Doi misses with a head shot. Laws uses the momentum to regain guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laws is looking to stand up but Doi isn't so interested in that idea. Laws is trying to keep Doi in close.
Doi wants to control from the top but Laws keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Laws controlling Doi's posture.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Yoshi Doi. Doi fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yoshi Doi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Doi throws a low kick but it's checked well by Laws. Laws looks to land a left hand but Doi moved out of range nicely. Doi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Laws swivels and escapes. Doi throws a head kick but Laws moves out of range.
Doi throws a head kick that misses. Doi takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Laws throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Doi sees it coming and avoids it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laws misses with a left hand and Doi counters by moving into the clinch. Doi jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Laws walks away with a smile on his face. Doi gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. A big right from Laws misses. Laws misses with a straight right. The fighters circling - Laws throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Laws looks to land a right hand but Doi moved out of range. Doi gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Doi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Laws's waist but Laws gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Doi off to one side. Laws misses with a hook
and Doi counters with a nice kick to the body. A swing and a miss from Laws. Laws might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Doi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The strikes coming from Doi are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Doi is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Laws's shoulder. That is not cool.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Doi working the ground and pound but Laws is defending the strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Laws gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Doi lands a heavy elbow. Laws slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Doi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Laws keeps working. Still in half guard, Doi seems content to control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Doi is trying to control the action in half guard but Laws is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Doi seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Yoshi Doi dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Doi keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Laws. Laws throws a hook to the side of Doi's head but Doi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Doi looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Yoshi Doi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Laws wants to improve his position but Doi is controlling well.
Doi is looking to take a break and control but Laws is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Doi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Doi slows the pace down in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laws is not content to let Doi control the position. Doi stands up and beckons Laws to join him on the feet. Laws misses with a hook. Doi slips a straight right by Laws. Doi moves into the clinch. Laws has had enough of the clinch but Doi keeps him there for the moment. Doi is trying to trip Laws. He has hold of a leg but Laws is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Doi persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Doi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Laws trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Laws is looking to stand up but Doi isn't so interested in that idea. Doi works a leg free and moves into half guard. Doi keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Doi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Laws with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Doi is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Doi scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Laws is looking to control Doi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Laws avoid being mounted? Doi controlling the pace. Doi working over Laws with some ground and pound. Laws looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Laws tries to get to full guard but Doi has control of the leg. Doi not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Rick Laws has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Yoshi Doi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Laws trying to control but Doi postures up.
Doi wants to take a breather but Laws is having none of it. Laws tries to roll over but Doi keeps him under control.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Laws swings widly with a right hand
and Doi counters with a takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Doi in side control, just content to control the action for now. Doi trying to control the action but Laws is working from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Yoshi Doi showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Doi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
