Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Legend (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Valentine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Legend!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Valentine!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Legend throws a nice looking combination but Valentine bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Legend shoots in but Valentine avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Legend blocks a head kick by Valentine.
Nice sprawl there from Valentine as Legend shoots in.

Valentine moves into the clinch successfully.

Valentine breaks the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Legend. No joy for Valentine on that attempt.

Legend gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Valentine manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Legend wants to control from the top but Valentine keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Legend shoots for a double leg takedown but Valentine sprawls well. He's pushed Legend's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Legend counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Legend fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Valentine breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Legend avoids a kick to the body.
A head kick from Legend lands but Valentine takes it in his stride.


It looks like David Valentine has been cut.
Legend's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Legend duly obliges.


Valentine is rocked!
Valentine fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Valentine is still on wobbly legs! Can Legend finish him?
Legend fails with the takedown

and Valentine counters with a takedown into side control.
Valentine seems to have recovered his senses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Legend manages to get back to half guard.
Valentine wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Legend uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Legend trying to keep a closed guard but Valentine is proving a slippery customer.

Legend preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Legend is working an open guard so Valentine takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Valentine throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A good leg kick by Legend.
Valentine throws a combination that misses
and Legend counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Valentine fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
A chopping leg kick lands by Legend.
Legend shoots in but Valentine avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Legend tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Valentine counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Legend is lucky that one didn't land flush.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Legend lands with a slapping head kick.

Valentine moves into range and clinches up with Legend.
Valentine lands an elbow inside that Legend shrugs off.


It looks like John Legend has been cut.
Legend drops down looking for an ankle pick but Valentine pulls his leg out and moves away.
Legend throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Valentine dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Back to the action!


Legend misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Valentine slips a jab and a cross from Legend.
Legend closes the distance and clinches up with Valentine, looking for a takedown. Legend pushes Valentine against the cage but Valentine circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
John Legend is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Valentine is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Valentine escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
John Legend seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Valentine fails to land with a series of punches.
Legend changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Valentine tries to avoid it but Legend manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Valentine to the ground. Valentine escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Valentine tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Valentine throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Legend fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Legend. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Valentine cracks a nice hook into Legend's ribs.

and Valentine holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Legend tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Valentine smiles and moves away.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Legend tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Legend can't get the takedown.

Valentine breaks from the clinch.

Valentine closes the distance and clinches.
Valentine prevents Legend from breaking the clinch.

Valentine lands a big head kick that sends Legend to the canvas! Valentine follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
