Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Martin Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Pasca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The final bell. Pasca comes into a darkened arena with his song building. mama said knock you out kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! John Pasca is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Martin Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Pasca! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pasca to score an easy takedown into full guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Pasca keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Diaz's head. Pasca lands a couple of decent looking shots. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pasca throws a big elbow that misses. Pasca throwing strikes from guard but Diaz blocks nicely. Diaz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Pasca is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Pasca loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Pasca distracts Diaz with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pasca accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Pasca postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Diaz is rocked! Diaz avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Diaz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Pasca content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pasca stopping the sweep attempt from Diaz. Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Pasca is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Pasca thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Diaz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Pasca cracks Diaz with a solid left hand. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pasca has gone for a leg lock! Diaz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pasca's guard. Pasca is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Pasca escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diaz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Pasca has his foot on Diaz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Diaz works his way back into a safe position though. Pasca is looking for a triangle here but Diaz uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Pasca looks gassed! This has been an exciting period of action! Pasca takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pasca can do anything to dispel that myth. Pasca is looking to reverse the position. Diaz advances to full mount. Pasca keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pasca can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Diaz trying to control but he's not successful this time. Pasca sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Diaz missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Diaz throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Pasca actively working from the bottom here. Pasca looking for subs from the bottom but Diaz mounts him!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pasca is desperately trying to improve his position but Diaz has a good base and remains in mount. Diaz controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pasca tries to get back to half guard but can't. Diaz scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Pasca is bucking up trying to escape but Diaz cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Diaz lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Diaz dominating with strikes here. Diaz looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Pasca can't escape the position.

John Pasca dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Diaz gets caught napping as Pasca dives in and scores a takedown. Diaz manages to retain guard. Diaz working for a triangle but Pasca defends it easily.
Pasca throws an elbow that misses. Diaz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pasca's guard. Nice move by Diaz! Diaz working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Pasca's head. Diaz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz working some strikes from top position. Pasca avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Pasca isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Diaz stacks Pasca on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Diaz! Pasca taking a bit of punishment here - Diaz scoring with strikes. Pasca tries to buck Diaz off but Diaz is having none of it. Pasca taking a bit of punishment here - Diaz scoring with strikes. Pasca is working to avoid the ground and pound but Diaz connects with a decent elbow. Diaz scores with a couple of short elbows. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pasca is looking for a sweep. Diaz working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Diaz has hold of Pasca's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Pasca tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Diaz cranks the arm and Pasca screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Pasca, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
