Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ogmundur Girsurrson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chico Grande (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Girsurrson comes to the cage accompanied by Sigur Rós - Hoppípolla. Grande comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Maestre - Calles De Medellín kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Chico Grande was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chico Grande! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Edson Gomes and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grande misses with a body kick. Girsurrson with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Chico Grande seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A punch combination from Girsurrson misses. Girsurrson scores with a body shot.
Girsurrson connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Girsurrson is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Girsurrson just misses with a punch to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Grande wants to clinch and Girsurrson counters with a big head kick but Grande shrugs it off. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Grande crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Girsurrson - the referee stops the clock and Grande gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Girsurrson. Grande manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Girsurrson throws a left that rocks Grande and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Girsurrson dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Grande regain composure!
Grande is rocked! It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Girsurrson scoring with punches from side control. Grande is still in real trouble! Can Girsurrson finish him? Girsurrson takes a little break here. Grande wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. An elbow from Girsurrson crashes against the mat.
Girsurrson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Girsurrson just content to control the position. Grande seems to have recovered his senses. Grande really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Girsurrson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Girsurrson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grande defending against the ground and pound. Girsurrson trying to control the position but Grande is working away. Girsurrson controls the position. Girsurrson throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Girsurrson works to advance to full mount. Grande defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Grande can do anything to dispel that myth. Grande wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Girsurrson.
Grande blocking the ground and pound. Girsurrson thowing shots but they're missing. Girsurrson trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grande tries to hold on but Girsurrson pushes him away. Girsurrson working for a guillotine from mount but Grande is in no mood to give up. Girsurrson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Girsurrson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Girsurrson throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Girsurrson controlling the position easily from mount. Girsurrson throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Girsurrson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Grande to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Grande shrugs it off. Girsurrson working away from the top, dropping strikes. Girsurrson landing strikes, looking to finish! Girsurrson throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Girsurrson wants to control the pace but Grande is squirming around nicely. Girsurrson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Girsurrson misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Girsurrson thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Girsurrson wants to finish this one by submission but Grande is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Girsurrson. Girsurrson looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Girsurrson takes Grande's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Grande is in trouble. Girsurrson has managed to slip his arm under Grande's chin. This could be all over... yep, Grande is tapping out! Submission win for Girsurrson.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ogmundur Girsurrson! A pretty intense looking Ogmundur Girsurrson took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
