Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Azevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daisuke Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Azevedo comes to the cage accompanied by I'm a Soldier, I'm a Fighter. Suzuki is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Stranglehold by Ted Nugent. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hugo Azevedo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Daisuke Suzuki! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Azevedo looks to score with a jab to the body but Suzuki is just out of range. Azevedo attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Azevedo checks the leg kick. Suzuki misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Azevedo counters with a slapping leg kick. Suzuki keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Suzuki throws a predictable looking body shot
and Azevedo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Suzuki misses with a body shot
and Azevedo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Azevedo misses with a low kick. Suzuki misses with a jab, cross combination.
Nice shot by Suzuki. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Azevedo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Suzuki was covering up waiting for the punch and Azevedo finishes the takedown easily into guard. Suzuki trying to control the position.
Suzuki has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Azevedo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Suzuki working for a triangle but Azevedo defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suzuki trying to control the position.
Suzuki tries to land a sweep but no joy. Suzuki keeping moving, preventing Azevedo from controlling successfully. Azevedo lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Azevedo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Suzuki has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Azevedo has managed to get both his arms back between Suzuki's legs - danger averted. Suzuki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Azevedo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Azevedo is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Suzuki working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Azevedo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Azevedo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Azevedo wants to control from the top but Suzuki keeps moving. Azevedo stands and throws Suzuki's legs to the side, diving into side control. Azevedo trying to control the position but Suzuki is working away. Suzuki struggling a bit here. Azevedo lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Suzuki takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Azevedo misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Azevedo trying to control the position but Suzuki is working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Suzuki is trying to get back to half guard. Suzuki takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Suzuki wants to control but Azevedo postures up. Azevedo working the head with strikes. Suzuki taking a bit of punishment here - Azevedo scoring with strikes. Azevedo scores with punches from side control. Azevedo trying to control the action but Suzuki is working from the bottom. Suzuki is looking to reverse the position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Azevedo working the body and head with strikes. Suzuki tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Azevedo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Suzuki avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Azevedo.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Azevedo working away. Suzuki tries to buck Azevedo off but Azevedo is having none of it. Suzuki is not content to let Azevedo control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Azevedo landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Azevedo working the body and head with strikes. Azevedo wants to control but Suzuki is keeping him busy. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Azevedo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Suzuki sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hugo Azevedo dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
The fight stays on the outside here - Azevedo looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Suzuki keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Suzuki takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Azevedo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Suzuki is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Azevedo slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Suzuki trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Suzuki connects with a couple of short punches. Azevedo working a defensive guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suzuki postures up and lands a big shot to Azevedo's brow. Azevedo working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Suzuki. Suzuki won't allow Azevedo to sweep him here. Suzuki wants to control from the top but Azevedo keeps moving. Azevedo has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Suzuki has passed into side control.
Azevedo is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Suzuki off and has taken his back! Azevedo looking for the RNC. Azevedo keeps control of the position as Suzuki tries to break free.
Suzuki breaks Azevedo's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Hugo Azevedo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Suzuki sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Azevedo's guard. Azevedo is trying to maintain the position but Suzuki is very close to passing his half guard. Suzuki scoring with strikes to the body and head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Azevedo tries to get to full guard but Suzuki has control of the leg. Suzuki performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Suzuki is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Azevedo blocking the ground and pound attempt from Suzuki.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Azevedo is trying is best to control the position here. Suzuki throws a strike but Azevedo manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Suzuki tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!
