Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Kessler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Klaus Krooker! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kessler shoots in for a double leg but Krooker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Kessler tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Krooker was well out of range. Poor timing from Kessler. Krooker gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kessler counters with a series of strikes. Krooker will be more careful next time no doubt. Kessler getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Krooker has his takedown stuffed and Kessler counters with a shoot takedown. Krooker fights it but they end up in guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Krooker trying to control the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kessler accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Kessler in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Kessler trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Krooker controls Kessler momentarily but Kessler frees himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Krooker keeping moving, preventing Kessler from controlling successfully. Kessler throws a big right hand that misses. Kessler trying to control but Krooker is working from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Jack Kessler wasn't doing enough on the ground. Krooker gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kessler cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Jack Kessler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klaus Krooker. Krooker stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Krooker wants it to stay on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kessler slips a jab from Krooker. Krooker dodges the punch combination from Kessler.
Krooker has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kessler finds it's way round the side to connect with Krooker's head. Kessler throws a big shot that misses. Krooker ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Krooker gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kessler counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Kessler keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Nice defenses there by Krooker.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kessler missing with a left hand there. Krooker was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Kessler lands a jab. Krooker ducks under a wild hook from Kessler. Kessler closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Krooker quickly recovers to half guard. Krooker trying to hold on to Kessler's head to control him but Kessler postures up.
Kessler is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Kessler wants to free his trapped foot but Krooker is holding on for dear life with his legs. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Krooker trying to control here.
Kessler uses his free foot to push down on Krooker's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Krooker. Kessler with a couple of short strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kessler working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Krooker is rocked! Kessler postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Krooker bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Kessler and the fight is over!
