PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donald Brashear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Gurvits (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brashear comes to the cage accompanied by Machine Head - Imperium. Brashear is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andy Gurvits!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Illya Tyunina and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gurvits fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Brashear is breathing heavily.
Gurvits will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Brashear throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gurvits.
Gurvits shoots for a takedown but Brashear saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Donald Brashear has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Gurvits.
Brashear displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gurvits.
Gurvits shoots in looking for a takedown but Brashear manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gurvits's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Gurvits should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Gurvits misses with a takedown attempt - Brashear sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Brashear leaves Gurvits with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gurvits shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brashear pinned against the cage. Brashear gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gurvits fails to land the takedown.
Nice takedown defense from Brashear. No joy for Gurvits on that attempt.

Gurvits is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brashear defends it well.
Gurvits is keen to just control but Brashear is a slippery customer.

Gurvits is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Brashear is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Gurvits thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Andy Gurvits showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Gurvits has an Americana. Brashear didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Gurvits is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Gurvits hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
