PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Iain Postlethwaite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Jose Silva Lock And Submit kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Jose Silva told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Iain Postlethwaite!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Silva!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Postlethwaite decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Silva looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Silva actively working from the bottom here.
Postlethwaite throwing shots but Silva is blocking nicely.
Postlethwaite wants to control but Silva is keeping him busy.
Silva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Postlethwaite is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Silva sees it coming and defends easily.
Postlethwaite is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Silva reverses the position - he's now on top in Postlethwaite's guard.
Silva is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Postlethwaite is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Postlethwaite wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Silva uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Postlethwaite wants to stand and escape but instead Silva has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Silva postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Silva not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Silva got a little sloppy there for a moment and Postlethwaite has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Silva has managed to get both his arms back between Postlethwaite's legs - danger averted.

Postlethwaite closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Silva quickly recovers to half guard.

Silva is in a horrible position here. Postlethwaite smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Postlethwaite wants to take Silva's back here but Silva is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Postlethwaite unloads with some shots from mount but Silva bucks and avoids them well.

Silva stops Postlethwaite from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Postlethwaite misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Postlethwaite goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Silva turns into him and now he's in Postlethwaite's guard.
Postlethwaite might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Postlethwaite fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Silva, pushing him back against the cage.

Postlethwaite has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Silva clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Postlethwaite is controlling the position but Silva somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

Well Postlethwaite has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
