Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Wes Ekwall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Byson Baylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ekwall comes to the cage accompanied by Linkin Park--One Step Closer. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wes Ekwall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Byson Baylor!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baylor shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ekwall napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Baylor tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Baylor has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ekwall tries to buck Baylor off but Baylor is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ekwall is not content to let Baylor control the position.
Baylor in side control, throwing shots but Ekwall defends.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Baylor is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Baylor is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Ekwall is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Baylor fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ekwall to the ground. Baylor is now in Ekwall's guard.

Ekwall gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ekwall bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Baylor's guard.
