Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Takanori Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Sims (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sims has chosen ironman as his entrance music. Chris Sims struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 137.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Takanori Gomez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sims doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Gomez counters with a nice uppercut.
Gomez throws a series of strikes that have Sims backpedaling.
It looks like Chris Sims has been cut.
Gomez scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Gomez lands a jab to the head.
Gomez lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Gomez connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sims's hands.
Gomez dips to his left and cracks Sims with an uppercut!

Gomez goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Gomez feints a jab promting Sims to slip. Gomez then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sims slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Gomez's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Gomez duly obliges.
Gomez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Gomez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Sims seems to have recovered his senses.
Gomez misses with some ground and pound and Sims recovers position to half guard.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Sims takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Gomez stalks Sims and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Sims's face. Sims staggers backwards, shaken.

Gomez feints and as Sims raises his hands in defense, Gomez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Sims walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Oooooh!!! Gomez has knocked Sims down with a huge combo! Gomez steps away and waves a wobbly Sims back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
That has opened up Chris Sims's cut even more.

and Gomez makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Gomez lands a body shot.
Gomez wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Decent striking displayed by Gomez there.
A jab from Gomez finds it's way through Sims's defenses.
Sims finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Gomez's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Sims falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Takanori Gomez!
A relieved looking Takanori Gomez thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
