Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between James Yap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Douglas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yap comes to the cage accompanied by go the distance. John Douglas looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Yap! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Douglas! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yap throws a combination that misses and Douglas counters with a two punch combo. Yap rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Douglas counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Douglas. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Douglas in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Douglas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Douglas prevents Yap from getting back to his feet. Yap keeping moving, preventing Douglas from controlling successfully. Yap wants to stand up but Douglas is controlling him. Douglas postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Douglas stands up over Yap, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Douglas won't allow Yap to get back to his feet. Douglas postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Douglas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Douglas throws a big right hand that misses. Yap pushes Douglas off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. No luck with that takedown attempt from Douglas. Douglas looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Yap feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Douglas's calf. No luck with that takedown attempt from Douglas. Yap lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Yap scores with a kick to the body.

A nice leg kick lands there from Yap. Yap throws a right and a left that both miss. Good leg kick by Yap there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Yap lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Douglas circles away quickly and effectively. Douglas showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Yap.
Douglas shoots in looking for a takedown but Yap manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Douglas's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. James Yap has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Douglas. Douglas tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Yap thumps Douglas with a low kick. Yap misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Douglas manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Yap on his heels. He'll look to pass Yap's guard now, I'm sure. Yap is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Douglas with a nice head shot there. Yap wants to stand and escape but Douglas is having none of it.

Douglas works over Yap with some ground and pound from guard. Douglas won't allow Yap to get back to his feet. Yap is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Douglas throws an elbow but it misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Douglas lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Yap has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Yap and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Douglas fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Yap, pushing him back against the cage. Yap breaks the clinch.

Yap throws a nice looking combination but Douglas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Yap scores with a jab to the body. James Yap seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Douglas moves in looking to clinch but Yap pushes him off. Douglas has taken the fight to the clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Yap wants to get back to striking at distance but Douglas won't allow it.

A close round but John Douglas will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Yap throws a nice inside leg kick. Yap fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Douglas. Douglas fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Yap!
James Yap is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Douglas takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Douglas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Yap has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Douglas has managed to get both his arms back between Yap's legs - danger averted. Yap being controlled here, momentarily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
