The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woods slips a jab from Minard.
Minard throws a shot from downtown. Woods moves away and avoids it.
Woods throws a quick inside leg kick.
Woods throws a lazy right hand but Minard sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Minard pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Minard throws a leg kick but Woods checks it.
Minard dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Minard moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Minard shoots in but no luck this time.
Minard listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Minard misses with a hook.
Liam Minard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Minard is looking to slow Woods down with leg kicks.
Woods tries a low kick but Minard avoids it.
A nice leg kick lands there from Minard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
No joy there for Minard, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Woods has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Minard finds it's way round the side to connect with Woods's head.

It looks like James Woods has been cut.
Minard will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Minard shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Woods as he jumps to the side.
James Woods has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Liam Minard.
The fighters circle momentarily. Woods darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Minard throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Woods sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Minard feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Woods seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Minard throws an elbow that misses. Woods uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Minard's guard. Nice move by Woods!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Woods is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Woods is desperately trying to improve his position but Minard has a good base and remains in mount.
Minard avoids the attempt from Woods to control.
Minard thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Woods is bucking up trying to escape but Minard cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Woods is looking to improve his position but Minard isn't that keen on the idea.

Minard cracks Woods with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Woods is rocked!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Woods is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Oh Woods is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Minard loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Woods scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Minard land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Minard stands and salutes the crowd.
