PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cole Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and KO Kid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cole Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, KO Kid!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kid takes a swing at Burns's ribcage but misses.
Burns lands a nice shot to the body.
Nice sprawl there from Kid as Burns shoots in.

Burns shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kid manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Burns scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Burns wants to control from the top but Kid keeps moving.
Kid trying to control the position.

Burns drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kid looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kid looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kid!

Kid wants to lay and pray for a moment but Burns keeps working.
Kid tries to advance to mount but can't.
Burns is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Kid in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Kid is putting a hurting on Burns here, landing some big shots from side control.
You can see the frustration on Burns's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Burns being controlled for a moment.
Kid wants to control but Burns is keeping him busy.

Kid is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Burns knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Burns sneaks back into half guard.

Kid is trying to work for a kimura but Burns is defending well.
Kid trying to pass the guard but Burns defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Burns looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Burns wants to get back to his feet.

Kid is looking for a kimura but Burns is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kid to get the leverage.

Kid misses with a head shot. Burns uses the momentum to regain guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kid trying to control the position from guard on top but Burns is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Burns looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kid is one step ahead there.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Kid wants to clinch up but Burns keeps it at a distance.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Burns.
Kid is trying to control Burns's posture but Burns avoids it.
Burns wants to control but Kid is keeping him busy.
Burns controls the position from side control.
Burns tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Kid wants to get back to his feet but Burns drags him back down.
Burns works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Kid is looking to reverse the position.

Burns goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kid has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Burns but great work by Kid.
Kid controls the position.
Burns regains half guard.
Burns might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kid wants to control but Burns is keeping him busy.
Burns is looking to improve his position.

Burns is looking to control Kid's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Burns avoid being mounted?
Burns wants to improve his position but Kid is controlling well.
Burns pushes Kid off looking to stand but Kid dives back in and keeps control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Burns trying to control but Kid postures up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kid wants to take a breather but Burns is having none of it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Burns.

Burns stands up.
Some wild striking there from Kid.
Cole Burns is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Burns is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Burns shoots in for a takedown but Kid shows good takedown defense.

Burns closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kid manages to get to full guard.

Kid looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Kid is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kid had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Burns defends it easily.
Burns trying to control but Kid is working from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Burns content to stall in guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cole Burns dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Burns fails with a takedown attempt.
Kid takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Burns stuffs the takedown.

Burns feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Burns slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Kid has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Burns not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Burnsis looking to pass into half guard but Kid pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Kid is in guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Burns holds on and takes a little breather.
Burns lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kid!
Kid is desperately trying to improve his position but Burns has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burns trying to control but Kid is having none of it.

Kid is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Burns goes for an armbar but Kid turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kid.
Kid preventing the sweep.
Burns keeping moving, preventing Kid from controlling successfully.
Kid with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Burns looking to control.
Kid stopping the sweep attempt from Burns.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Burns is on top in guard.
Cole Burns overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Burns gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Kid drives through and clinches with Burns against the cage.
Burns has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kid is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Burns is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kid can't fight it off and eventually Burns manages to take the fight to the floor. Kid looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Burns looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kid is looking to stand up but Burns isn't so interested in that idea.

Burns has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Kid to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Burns is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Kid pulls down on the head and he's put Burns to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). KO Kid!
