Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Remy Mintusovich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Karelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mintusovich comes to the cage accompanied by Moonlite Sonota. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Remy Mintusovich! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alex Karelin! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Konstantin Menshow and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karelin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Karelin stalling. Karelin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Mintusovich won't allow Karelin to pass to mount. Mintusovich wants to get back to his feet.
Karelin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Karelin is nestled in close to Mintusovich, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Karelin wants to free his trapped foot but Mintusovich is holding on for dear life with his legs. Karelin wants to control but Mintusovich is keeping him busy. The fighters are battling for position here. Mintusovich manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Karelin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Karelin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Karelin passes easily into side control. Nice work. Mintusovich takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Karelin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mintusovich keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Karelin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mintusovich is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Karelin working the body and head with strikes. Karelin is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Karelin working the ground and pound from side control. Karelin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mintusovich has escaped the position, nice work there. Karelin looks gassed! Mintusovich lands a decent little punch to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Mintusovich wants to get back to his feet. Karelin is chipping away with strikes.
Karelin working the ground and pound. Mintusovich is pushing Karelin's head away, looking to escape. Karelin manages to hold on to the position though. Karelin is looking to take a break and control but Mintusovich is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mintusovich takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Karelin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Mintusovich wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Karelin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Mintusovich is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Karelin is controlling him well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Karelin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Mintusovich misses with a takedown attempt - Karelin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Mintusovich blocks a head kick by Karelin.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Mintusovich, as that shot connected.
Karelin drives through with a takedown into guard. Karelin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Karelin works over Mintusovich with some ground and pound from guard. Karelin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Karelin content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Mintusovich is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Karelin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Mintusovich wants to stand but Karelin is controlling the position. Mintusovich manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Karelin manages to get himself to full guard.
Mintusovich won't allow Karelin to sweep him here. Mintusovich is pushing down on Karelin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Karelin is fighting to maintain full guard but Mintusovich has managed to sneak the leg through. Mintusovich tries to stand but can't do so whilst Karelin controls his leg. Karelin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Mintusovich wants to stand but Karelin has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Karelin is trying to get back to full guard. Karelin manages to get to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Karelin dominated that round. That's time! Mintusovich's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Mintusovich lands with a kick to the temple. Karelin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Alex Karelin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Karelin scores a takedown into full mount! Mintusovich in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Mintusovich is rocked! Karelin is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mintusovich has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Oh Mintusovich is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Karelin scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Mintusovich?
Karelin lands a big shot to the head and Mintusovich winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
