Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ian Roberts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Meadows! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roberts scores with a hook to the body. Meadows takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Jack Meadows seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Roberts connects with a body shot. Meadows shoots for a takedown but Roberts saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Roberts listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Roberts moves into the clinch. Roberts jumps into guard, dragging Meadows to the mat.
Meadows loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Roberts is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Roberts wants to stand up but Meadows is controlling the position.
Meadows is trying to maintain the position but Roberts is very close to passing his half guard. Roberts lands strikes from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meadows tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Roberts seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Meadows is not content to let Roberts control the position. Roberts tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Meadows is refusing to be controlled, as Roberts sits in half guard. Roberts is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Meadows is just riding it out for now. Roberts eventually gives up the hold. Meadows trying to control but Roberts postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roberts trying to mount his opponent but Meadows defends it. Roberts wants to stand but Meadows has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Roberts is just content to waste time from the top position. Meadows takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Meadows is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Meadows has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Roberts doesn't defend quickly enough and Meadows has managed to lock this one up! Can Roberts escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Meadows on a fantastic submission victory.
