PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mario Junakovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sakuragi Fin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario Junakovic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sakuragi Fin!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Fin looks for a takedown but Junakovic sprawls well.
Fin doesn't manage to clinch there - Junakovic circles away.
Fin explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Fin lands with a kick to the temple. Junakovic shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Fin throws a head kick that misses.
Fin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Junakovic pinned against the ropes. Junakovic gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mario Junakovic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sakuragi Fin.

Fin moves into the clinch successfully.

Junakovic works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Fin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fin is on top in guard.
Fin wants to get up but he can't break Junakovic's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Fin won't allow Junakovic to get back to his feet.

Fin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Junakovic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fin on the ground.

Junakovic is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Fin is controlling him.
Fin tries to stand but Junakovic is controlling from the bottom.
Fin wants to control from the top but Junakovic keeps moving.
Junakovic wants to stand and escape but Fin is having none of it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sakuragi Fin hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Fin shoots in but Junakovic avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Fin has his takedown stuffed
enabling Junakovic to counter with a crisp jab.

Junakovic is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Fin's half guard.
Junakovic looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Junakovic is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Junakovic wants to pass to mount but Fin is defending the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Junakovic lands a nice short elbow.
Junakovic wants to take a breather but Fin is having none of it.

Junakovic winds up and cracks Fin with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Junakovic lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fin is staying active underneath Junakovic, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Fin on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Junakovic uses his free foot to push down on Fin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fin.
Junakovic connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Fin shoots in looking for a takedown but Junakovic manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Fin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Fin tries a head kick but it misses.

Junakovic tries to move to mount but Fin blocks the move with his legs.
Fin is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Fin is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Junakovic cracks Fin with a big right hand but Fin just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fin is looking to reverse the position.
Fin is working to avoid the ground and pound but Junakovic connects with a decent elbow.
Junakovic lands a strong strike to the head of Fin. That's dazed him! Junakovic looking to finish here. Fin is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Junakovic lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mario Junakovic!
