PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Mikkelsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giovanni Pineda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mikkelsen comes into the arena with How Deep Is Your Love blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mikkelsen jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
A shot to the liver by Pineda. Beautiful body shot.
Pineda tries to close the distance and clinch but Mikkelsen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Pineda fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mikkelsen sprawls well initially but Pineda persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Mikkelsen wants to improve his position but Pineda is controlling well.

Pineda looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mikkelsen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mikkelsen has hold of Pineda's hands but Pineda slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Pineda is nestled in close to Mikkelsen, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pineda connects with a nice short shot to Mikkelsen's temple.

The crowd cheers as Pineda lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mikkelsen doesn't seem phased though.

and Pineda counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pineda postures up and lands a big shot to Mikkelsen's brow.

Pineda must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Pineda manages to escape and get back to his feet.

A big strike lands for Pineda! That's really hurt Mikkelsen and he's turned his back - Pineda keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Pineda jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
