Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wolfgang Lilja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lanny Malkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lilja comes to the cage accompanied by Mozart - Kyrie. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Malkin or perhaps it was just good defense by Lilja which made him look bad.

Malkin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Lilja looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Malkin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lilja. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Malkin is looking to stand up but Lilja won't let him.

Lilja has his foot on Malkin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Malkin works his way back into a safe position though.
Lilja is breathing heavily.
Malkin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lilja swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lilja bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Malkin's guard.

Lilja drops back looking for a leg! Malkin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Malkin manages to kick Lilja off! Lilja jumps back into Malkin's guard.

Malkin has his feet on Lilja's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Malkin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lilja's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lilja is looking for a triangle but Malkin pushes his legs off easily.

Malkin has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Lilja to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Malkin is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Lilja pulls down on the head and he's put Malkin to sleep! This one is all over!
