The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Ortizz. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Rasputin is pushing Ortizz's head away, looking to escape. Ortizz manages to hold on to the position though. Ortizz lands a decent elbow from side control. Ortizz postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Rasputin is trying to escape and get back to his feet. An elbow from Ortizz crashes against the mat.
Ortizz lands a few punches from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rasputin wants to get back to his feet. Rasputin parries the strikes from Ortizz easily there. Ortizz is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rasputin to escape.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rasputin is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Rasputin takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The ground and pound from Ortizz seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Ortizz working the ground and pound. Rasputin taking a bit of punishment here - Ortizz scoring with strikes.
Rasputin is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round. Rasputin tries to escape but Ortizz is in control. Rasputin is still in real trouble! Can Ortizz finish him? Ortizz works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Ortizz cracks Rasputin with an elbow. That is naaassty. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ortizz grinds an elbow into Rasputin's temple. Ortizz lands a big elbow and you can see that really hurt Rasputin! Ortizz senses the opportunity and scores with more strikes - he's put Rasputin out! The ref tackles him out of the way to prevent him landing more strikes - this one is all over!
