PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Litran Kossu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kossu comes to the cage accompanied by Holy Diver - Dio. The crowd seem to be enjoying Taylor's choice of entrance music: . Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Litran Kossu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tim Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor misses the body punch
and Kossu connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Taylor throws a sloppy head kick and Kossu moves out of range easily.
Taylor is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kossu.
Taylor throws a leg kick that is checked
and Kossu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Good work by Taylor as he checks the leg kick.
Taylor fakes the leg kick and cracks Kossu in the body.
Taylor loads up on a big right hand but Kossu slips the punch.
Taylor getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Tim Taylor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kossu connects with a solid leg kick.
Kossu shoots in looking for a takedown. Taylor tries to sprawl out of it but Kossu keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Taylor manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Taylor looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
The fighters circling - Taylor throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

and Kossu counters with an inside leg kick.

Taylor pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Taylor looks to throw the jab but Kossu is out of range.
Taylor has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kossu.
Kossu uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Taylor has time to react.
Kossu moves out of range as Taylor strikes.

Kossu bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Taylor stops Kossu from passing to mount.
Kossu misses with the ground and pound.
Check out the look on Kossu's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Kossu is trying to get an arm triangle but Taylor is defending well.

Taylor is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Kossu trying to mount his opponent but Taylor defends it.
Kossu has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Taylor pushes Kossu off looking to stand but Kossu dives back in and keeps control.
Kossu thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Taylor's head.
Kossu works his foot free and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Taylor is wriggling around trying to escape.
The referee warns Taylor that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

It looks like Tim Taylor has been cut.
Kossu avoids the attempt from Taylor to control.

Taylor has left one of his arms exposed and Kossu doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Taylor screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Litran Kossu!
During a confident post fight interview, Litran Kossu thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
