Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rebaldo Louza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joseph Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rebaldo Louza!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Louza looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brown is fending him off so far but Louza persists. Nope, Brown circles away and we're back to standing.
Louza takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Brown fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Brown thuds his shin into the meat of Louza's side.
Louza closes the distance looking to clinch
and Brown counters with a head kick.
Louza takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Louza tries for a takedown but Brown sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Brown thows a body kick. Louza tries to catch it but that hurt him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Louza moves out of range of the body kick from Brown.
Brown circles away from the clinch attempt
and Brown counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Louza is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Brown slaps away a takedown attempt from Louza, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Brown swings for the body but Louza moves out of range.

Brown manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Louza is looking for a kimura but Brown is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Louza to get the leverage.

Louza is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Brown has managed to free his arm - good work.

Louza is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brown defends it well.
Louza looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Brown tries to get to full guard but Louza has control of the leg.
Brown makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Brown.

Louza drops back, looking for a kneebar! Brown looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Brown looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Brown!
Louza tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Brown wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Brown is looking to take a break and control but Louza is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Brown decides to stand back up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Louza tries to close the distance and clinch but Brown swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Brown throws a head kick but Louza moves out of range.
Rebaldo Louza is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Louza fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Brown feints and then cracks Louza's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Louza down.

Brown looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Brown is working hard here to advance position.
Louza looking to sit in guard and control but Brown gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Louza looking for subs off his back but Brown has passed one foot through into half guard.
Louza is trying to control but can't.

Louza is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Brown decides to return to a standing position.
Rebaldo Louza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Louza will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Brown lands with a good body shot.
A lazy left from Brown finds it's target.
Brown tries to land a front kick but Louza steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Louza closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Louza tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Brown just stands there and leans against the cage.

Brown breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Louza shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Brown as he avoids it easily.
Brown looks for the body kick but Louza saw that one coming.
Louza avoids the head kick by Brown.
A solid leg kick lands there for Brown.

Louza drives through with a takedown into Brown's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Louza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brown swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Louza working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Louza dives in and grabs Brown's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brown pushes down on Louza's head and hops out.

and Brown counters with a straight right hand.
Louza shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Louza shoots for a double leg takedown but Brown sprawls well. He's pushed Louza's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Louza has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Brown.

Louza takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Brown displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Louza.
Louza's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
