Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Asko Vilenius! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Al Kohalic! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kohalic looks for a takedown but Vilenius sprawls well. Vilenius gets caught flat footed, as Kohalic shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Kohalic loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kohalic accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Vilenius scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Kohalic shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vilenius as he jumps to the side. Kohalic fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Asko Vilenius has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Al Kohalic. A cross from Vilenius lands. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Vilenius shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Kohalic eats them both and turns towards Vilenius to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
It looks like Al Kohalic has been cut. Vilenius jabs Kohalic to the body, keeping him at a distance. Vilenius works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Kohalic looks gassed! Vilenius jabs at Kohalic's body. Vilenius tries to clinch but Kohalic is having none of it. Nice uppercut lands for Vilenius. That snapped Kohalic's head back.
Kohalic shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Vilenius is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Vilenius has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Vilenius might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vilenius wants to stand up but Kohalic is controlling him. Vilenius is pulling down on Kohalic's head. It's preventing any offense from Kohalic, at least for the moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Asko Vilenius. Vilenius thuds a left hand into Kohalic's body. Vilenius bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kohalic's head. Nice jab there from Vilenius. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Vilenius goes for a small jab and connects. Now Vilenius goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Kohalic stumbles back but Vilenius runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Kohalic to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Kohalic will ever be the same after a knockout like that.
