Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Zak Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simmons comes to the cage accompanied by Kid cypher round 11. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zak Simmons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andre Young!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simmons shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Young but Young pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Simmons really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Simmons.
Simmons doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Young counters with a body kick that stops Simmons in his tracks momentarily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zak Simmons. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Young gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Young is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Young jumps into guard, dragging Simmons to the mat.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Young tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Young is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

and Young makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Simmons shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Young pinned against the cage. Young gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Andre Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Simmons is breathing heavily.

Young takes the fight into the clinch.

Simmons has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Young avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Simmons wants to take the fight to the mat but Young manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Young jumps guard and drags Simmons to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Young manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Young working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Young throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Young is in the full mount, landing strikes.
The referee warns Simmons that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Young looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Young is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Simmons can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Simmons really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Young has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Simmons is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Young jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Simmons manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Young decides to stand up, so the ref orders Simmons to his feet.

Young closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Simmons can't get the takedown.

Young decides to pull guard.
Simmons won't allow Young to sweep him here.

Young is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Young has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Simmons is trying to keep an underhook but Young manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Simmons tries to roll over but Young keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Simmons keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Simmons is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Young throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Young lands a nice short elbow.
Simmons looks like he's trying to stand up.
Young looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Simmons with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Young thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Simmons tries to kick Young off but Young keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Young decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Young clinches with his opponent.

Young pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Young closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Young has Simmons pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Young pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Simmons tumbling to the mat - Young dives into Simmons's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Young gets to his feet. Simmons looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Young tries a head kick but it misses.
Simmons takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Young pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Young moves into the clinch successfully.
Young digs a right hand underneath Simmons's ribcage. Simmons let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Young manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Young will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Simmons scoring with punches to the head and body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Simmons scoring with some ground and pound.
Young tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andre Young dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Young clinches up with Simmons and pushes him back against the cage.

Young gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Simmons on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Simmons tries to get out of the position.
Simmons pushes Young off looking to stand but Young dives back in and keeps control.

Young escapes and gets back to his feet.
Simmons circles away from the clinch attempt.

and Young counters with a flying knee. Nice.

and Young counters with a crisp one two that drops Simmons! Young thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Simmons to his feet! Simmons is in big trouble!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Simmons shoots and misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Oh Simmons is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A combination from Young does no damage.
Young tries to clinch up but Simmons circles away and keeps his distance.
Simmons seems to have got his legs back now.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Young clinches.

Young drags the fight down to the ground.
Simmons knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Young on the ground.
Young doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Young throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.

Young working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Simmons doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Simmons manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Simmons avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Young is looking to sinch up a triangle. Simmons throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Young's body to avoid the submission. Young has instead reached around Simmons's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Young arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Andre Young!
