Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Simmons Zak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sheldon Labasan! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zak is looking to clinch. Zak wants to clinch. Zak slaps away a takedown attempt from Labasan, before circling back to the center of the mat. Simmons Zak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Horrible takedown by Labasan or perhaps it was just good defense by Zak which made him look bad. Zak is looking to clinch. Labasan moves in looking to clinch but Zak pushes him off. Labasan looks for a takedown but Zak sprawls well. Simmons Zak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sheldon Labasan. Labasan gets tackled into the cage by Zak. Zak maintains the clinch. Zak breaks from the clinch.

Labasan is fighting it off but Zak persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Labasan's guard against the cage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Labasan keeping moving, preventing Zak from controlling successfully. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Labasan is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Labasan drops back looking for a leg! Zak is in trouble here! Labasan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Zak is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
