PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kadian Aitkens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Osko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Osko is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Selling the Wind. Josh Osko is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kadian Aitkens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Josh Osko!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Osko looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Osko wants to control from the top but Aitkens keeps moving.
Osko working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Aitkens knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Osko on the ground.
Osko throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Osko's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Aitkens keeping moving, preventing Osko from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Josh Osko hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Osko looking to score a takedown here. Aitkens is defending well but Osko drives through and ends up in Aitkens's guard.
Aitkens will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Aitkens working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Osko.
Osko seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Osko working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Osko wants to control from the top but Aitkens keeps moving.
Osko connects with a couple of short punches.
Osko trying to control but Aitkens is working from the bottom.
Osko is stalling in the full guard.
Osko throwing strikes from guard but Aitkens blocks nicely.
Osko works over Aitkens with some ground and pound from guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Osko stands up over Aitkens, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Osko trying to control the position from guard on top but Aitkens is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Osko is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Osko keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Aitkens's head.
Aitkens has momentary wrist control but Osko slips an elbow through the middle.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Osko advances to half guard.
Osko thows a huge punch but Aitkens dodges it nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Osko sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Aitkens defending well though.
Osko content to control rather than advance.
Let's hope that Osko has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Osko is looking to take a break and control but Aitkens is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Osko passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Aitkens!

Osko looking to finish Aitkens with some ground and pound. This is bad for Aitkens!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Osko is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Aitkens can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The referee warns Aitkens that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Aitkens is rocked!
Osko looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Aitkens covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Josh Osko!
A less than humble Josh Osko misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
