Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sato Kobayashi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frankie Gambini! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Kavanagh and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gambini fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. No luck with that takedown attempt from Gambini. Kobayashi fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gambini has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Kobayashi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Kobayashi tries to clinch but Gambini moves out of range. Kobayashi is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Kobayashi tries to clinch up but Gambini circles away and keeps his distance. Gambini slaps away a takedown attempt from Kobayashi, before circling back to the center of the mat. Kobayashi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gambini paws at him with a jab and circles away. The fight stays on the outside here - Kobayashi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Kobayashi shoots in and drives through. Gambini sprawls well. Sato Kobayashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kobayashi tries to clinch up but Gambini circles away and keeps his distance. Gambini shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kobayashi but Kobayashi pushes him off and we're back to square one. Sato Kobayashi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frankie Gambini. Kobayashi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gambini circles away quickly and effectively.

Kobayashi moves in looking to clinch but Gambini pushes him off. Kobayashi explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Gambini avoids the head kick by Kobayashi.
Gambini closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kobayashi quickly recovers to half guard. Gambini seems to be looking for submissions.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kobayashi closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Kobayashi wants a takedown.

Kobayashi pushes down on Gambini's head and hops out. Kobayashi's jab looks to have found its range, popping Gambini under the eye. Kobayashi gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Kobayashi wants to take the fight to the mat but Gambini manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Kobayashi manages to pull guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kobayashi wants to stand and escape but Gambini is having none of it. Gambini stands up over Kobayashi, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Gambini pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kobayashi is keeping the position for now. Gambini stands and throws Kobayashi's legs to the side, diving into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kobayashi is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Gambini asserts his dominance and retains side control. Gambini looks up at the clock and then as Kobayashi takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Gambini smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sato Kobayashi dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Kobayashi looks to land a body kick but Gambini moved away. Kobayashi shoots in but no luck this time. Kobayashi throws a combination. Gambini tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Kobayashi tries to clinch up but Gambini circles away and keeps his distance. Gambini scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gambini prevents Kobayashi from escaping the position. Gambini working away. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gambini wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kobayashi keeps working.

Gambini landing a few strikes. Gambini is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kobayashi will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gambini landing strikes.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kobayashi can't do much from the bottom here. Gambini lands some shots froms side control. Gambini is chipping away with strikes.

Kobayashi is rocked! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Let's hope that Gambini has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Gambini's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Gambini working the head and body with strikes. Kobayashi is looking for a sweep.

Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Gambini works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Gambini in side control lands a decent elbow. Gambini landing a few strikes. Frankie Gambini showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Gambini throws a right and a left that both miss. The fight stays on the outside here - Kobayashi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Gambini fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kobayashi avoids it really well and circles away. Gambini feints a jab promting Kobayashi to slip. Gambini then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kobayashi slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Kobayashi lands with a nice combination. Gambini backs away looking to recover. Kobayashi lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Kobayashi shoots for a takedown but Gambini saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Kobayashi tries to clinch but Gambini is having none of it. Kobayashi shoots in for a double leg but Gambini sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Kobayashi fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sato Kobayashi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kobayashi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gambini paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kobayashi fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Kobayashi slaps away a takedown attempt from Gambini, before circling back to the center of the mat. Sato Kobayashi is winning the standup battle so far. Kobayashi closes the distance looking to clinch and Gambini counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kobayashi won't be happy with that. Gambini creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Gambini wants to control but Kobayashi is keeping him busy. Gambini has knee on belly and moves into mount. Gambini controlling his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gambini cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Kobayashi defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gambini. Gambini unloading with bombs! Kobayashi working to try and regain half guard.
Gambini has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Gambini swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
