Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brock Landers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tarzan Terk! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Lou da Vinci and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Terk misses with a takedown attempt and Landers decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Terk's guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Landers content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Landers trying to control but Terk is working from the bottom. Landers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Landers controls from within his opponent's guard. Landers throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Terk pulls Landers in to control the position. Landers missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Landers controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Landers trying to control but Terk is working from the bottom. Terk keeping full guard, as Landers tries to pass. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We're going to have a standup here because Brock Landers wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Landers looks to score with a jab to the body but Terk is just out of range. Terk tries for a takedown but Landers circles away easily and Landers counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Landers stalling away here and it's allowed Terk to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Landers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Landers trying to control the position from guard on top but Terk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Landers looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Landers preventing the sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Terk wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Landers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Terk swivels though and keeps the full guard. Landers pushes down on Terk's leg and manages to get into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Terk slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Terk looking for a sweep. Not yet Terk, not yet. Terk keeping moving, preventing Landers from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Landers is looking to work some ground and pound but Terk has wrist control. Terk looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Landers looking to pass the guard. Landers preventing the sweep. Terk keeping moving, preventing Landers from controlling successfully. Landers is looking to work some ground and pound but Terk has wrist control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Landers wants to control from the top but Terk keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brock Landers dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
A looping hook to the body misses from Landers. Terk does a little dance to reset his feet. Landers gets a takedown into half guard. Landers tries to pass to full mount but Terk defends it. Landers content to control rather than advance. Landers moves into full mount! Terk won't be happy about that!
That's one minute gone in the round. Terk tries to hold on but Landers pushes him away. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Terk can do anything to dispel that myth. Landers throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Terk has his hands clasped together but Landers breaks the hold and Terk is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Landers!
