Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Ross! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sasha Grey! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ross misses with the combination.
A leg kick checked by Ross. Ross getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Sasha Grey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Grey wants to clinch up but Ross keeps it at a distance. Grey tries to clinch up but Ross circles away and keeps his distance. Ross keeps the fight on the outside. Ross displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Grey is looking to clinch. Grey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ross paws at him with a jab and circles away. Grey tries to clinch but Ross is having none of it. Grey tries to clinch but Ross moves out of range. Ross attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Grey has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Excellent takedown into side control there by Ross. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Ross controlling the position. Ross misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grey struggling a bit here. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Grey can do anything to dispel that myth. Ross throws an elbow but Grey slips to the side and avoids it well. Grey is looking for a sweep. Grey gets back to half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ross in particular looking to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grey kicks Ross off and gets back to his feet. Grey looks for a takedown but Ross sprawls well. Grey shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ross sprawls well. Ross wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Grey gets slowly back to his feet. Grey drives through and clinches with Ross against the cage.
Grey keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ross's efforts to push away. Ross wants to break the clinch but can't.
Grey tries to stall but Ross uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Ross tries to pull guard but Grey forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Ross goes for a takedown attempt but Grey pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ross looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Grey is looking to clinch. Grey wants to clinch up but Ross keeps it at a distance. Grey is looking to clinch but Ross is avoiding it.
Grey tries to close the distance and clinch but Ross swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Grey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ross paws at him with a jab and circles away. Grey shoots in but no luck this time. Dan Ross has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sasha Grey. Grey needs to keep his hands up - Ross had a free shot at his head there. Ross bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Grey's head backwards. Grey looks to land a combination but Ross avoids it well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ross fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Grey to the ground. Ross is now in Grey's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ross wants to get up but he can't break Grey's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Ross controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ross trying to stand up but can't free himself from Grey's guard. Ross wants to stand and escape but instead Grey has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Grey wants to pass the guard but Ross is keeping the position. Grey postures up in Ross's guard and throws a big left but Ross blocks it. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Ross is looking to stand up but Grey isn't so interested in that idea. Grey makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Grey is looking to stand up but Ross won't let him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dan Ross dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Grey has Ross up against the cage in a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Grey. A frustrated look appears on Ross's face as he tries to break the clinch. Grey pulls guard. Ross has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Ross is looking to stand up but Grey won't let him. Ross working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Ross is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Grey pushes Ross off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Ross fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Grey looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. The fight stays on the outside here - Grey looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Grey looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ross is fending him off so far but Grey persists. Nope, Ross circles away and we're back to standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ross. Dan Ross is winning the standup battle so far. Grey shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling Ross to counter with a crisp jab. Grey is breathing heavily. Ross scores with a jab to the head.
Grey tries to move into range but Ross moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Ross lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nice uppercut lands for Ross. That snapped Grey's head back.
Ross throws a shot to the body.

Grey is rocked! Ross wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Ross drives through with a takedown into Grey's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Grey working a defensive guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Ross has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Ross throws a big right hand that misses. Ross pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Grey is keeping the position for now. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Ross throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Grey works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Ross wants to stand and escape but instead Grey has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Ross keeping moving, preventing Grey from controlling successfully.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sasha Grey wasn't active enough on the ground. A jab from Ross finds it's way through Grey's defenses. Grey misses with a shot to the body and Ross counters with a nice right hand that sends Grey toppling to the canvas! Grey scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Ross finish him?! Grey is still on wobbly legs! Can Ross finish him? Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ross closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Grey! Ross dives in looking to finish! Grey is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dan Ross! Dan Ross decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
