Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tank Abott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Damian Blaszczyk! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blaszczyk connects with a solid leg kick. Blaszczyk looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Blaszczyk lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Abott circles away quickly and effectively. Abott throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Blaszczyk was covering up waiting for the punch and Abott finishes the takedown easily into guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Abott postures up in Blaszczyk's guard and throws a big left but Blaszczyk blocks it. Abott gets to his feet - Blaszczyk follows without any prompting. Blaszczyk moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Abott scores with a spinning back kick! Tank Abott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Abott scores with a kick to the midsection. Abott fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abott darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Abott controlling the action here. Abott seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Blaszczyk for as long as he can get away with.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Abott decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Abott looks to land a combination but Blaszczyk avoids it well. Abott shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Blaszczyk pinned against the cage. Blaszczyk gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Abott closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Abott staying calm.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sloppy strikes there by Abott. Abott scores with a couple of short elbows. Blaszczyk wants to get back to his feet but Abott drags him back down. Abott lands a decent elbow from side control. Abott decides to stand up, so the ref orders Blaszczyk to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Abott shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Abott slips nicely into half guard. Abott looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Abott is trying to control. Blaszczyk wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tank Abott dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Abott will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Blaszczyk walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
It looks like Damian Blaszczyk has been cut. Abott scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Abott is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Abott postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Blaszczyk to stand up. Abott misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Blaszczyk blocks the body kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Abott tries to close the distance and clinch but Blaszczyk swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. A right-left combo lands from Abott. Sloppy strikes from Abott. Those never looked like landing. Abott clinches up against the cage. Abott manages to break the clinch.
Abott drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Blaszczyk is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Abott asserts his dominance and retains side control. Abott misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Blaszczyk is pushing Abott's head away, looking to escape. Abott manages to hold on to the position though. Abott has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Blaszczyk! Abott controlling from the full mount. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Blaszczyk tries to hold on but Abott pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Abott controlling from the full mount. Abott is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Blaszczyk has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Abott content just to control the position here. Abott is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Blaszczyk can do to turn this around?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Blaszczyk is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Blaszczyk is trying to stand but he's just given Abott his back. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. The referee is taking a good look at Blaszczyk as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Abott!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tank Abott dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Damian Blaszczyk's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Abott scores with a head kick.
Nice sprawl there from Blaszczyk as Abott shoots in. Abott shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Abott is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Abott escapes and gets back to his feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Blaszczyk blocks a head kick by Abott.
Abott keeps the fight on the outside. Blaszczyk misses with a hook
and Abott counters with a single leg into guard. Blaszczyk didn't expect that. Abott trying to control but Blaszczyk is working from the bottom. Abott's corner is telling him to maintain position. Abott stops Blaszczyk from standing up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Abott controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Tank Abott wasn't doing enough on the ground. A looping hook to the body misses from Abott. Blaszczyk does a little dance to reset his feet. Blaszczyk cracks Abott with an open hand slap. Blaszczyk displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Abott. Abott tries to keep at a distance but Blaszczyk has taken the fight into the clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Abott breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Abott dives in and grabs Blaszczyk's left leg, looking for a takedown. Blaszczyk pushes down on Abott's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tank Abott. That's going to take a lot out of him. Abott gets the takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Abott stands up and beckons Blaszczyk to his feet. Abott tries to clinch up. Tank Abott is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Abott throws a head kick that misses. Abott lands with a slapping head kick. Tank Abott is winning the standup battle so far. Blaszczyk misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Abott throws a front kick that sends Blaszczyk stumbling back into the cage. Abott staying out of range there. Abott scores with a crisp jab that stopped Blaszczyk in his tracks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Abott tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Abott throws a left and a right that both miss
and Blaszczyk makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Blaszczyk throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Abott fails with the takedown. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Abott crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Blaszczyk - the referee stops the clock and Abott gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Blaszczyk. Abott manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Abott shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Blaszczyk defends it nicely. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Abott throws a series of strikes that have Blaszczyk backpedaling.
And that's the end of the fight! Tank Abott showed his dominance in that final round. Well Abott has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
