The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortega shoots in for a takedown but Rios shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rios misses with a looping right.
Cortega looks to score with a jab to the body but Rios is just out of range.
Cortega just misses with a punch to the body.
Rios is looking to slow Cortega down with leg kicks.
Rios throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cortega throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Rios takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Cortega throws a hook but Rios avoids it easily.
Cortega lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Rios at a distance.
Rios checks a low kick from Cortega.
Rios connects with a body shot that sends Cortega's belly button to the back.

and Rios counters with a leg kick.

Rios throws a right and a left that Cortega avoids nicely.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Cortega looks to land a left hand but Rios moved out of range nicely.

Rios swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Rios, right into the meat.
No joy there for Rios, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Rios counters with a flying knee. Nice.
The fighters circle, before Rios throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Cortega's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Rios lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
