PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Devon Cloud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lancett Cridle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cloud comes to the cage accompanied by Fault and fracture. Cridle has chosen Counterfeit by Limp Bizkit as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Devon Cloud! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lancett Cridle! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cridle looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Cloud! Cloud squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Cloud is squirming around, avoiding Cridle's attempts to control the action. Cridle swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Cloud is now in Cridle's guard. A big mistake from Cridle there, giving up the dominant position! Cloud stopping the sweep attempt from Cridle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cloud tries to stand but Cridle is controlling from the bottom. Cloud won't allow Cridle to sweep him here. Cloud avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cridle looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Cloud puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Cridle looks gassed! Cloud tries to stand and escape but Cridle is controlling the position. Cridle actively working from the bottom here. Cridle tries to roll over but Cloud keeps him under control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Cloud tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Cridle. Cridle looking for submissions off his back. Cridle wants to get back to full guard. Cridle looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Cloud gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Cridle looking to pass the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cridle pushes down on Cloud's leg and manages to get into half guard. Cloud is refusing to be controlled, as Cridle sits in half guard. Cridle tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cloud knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Cridle wants to work for an arm triangle but Cloud is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cridle is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cloud is just riding it out for now. Cridle eventually gives up the hold. Cridle is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Cloud is trying to stand.
Cridle trying to control the action but Cloud is working from the bottom. Cridle passes to side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cridle tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cridle has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Cridle is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cloud is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lancett Cridle dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Cloud has closed the distance and engaged Cridle in a clinch.
Cloud lands an elbow inside that Cridle shrugs off. Cloud with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Cloud lands a damaging elbow. Cridle tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cloud just stands there and leans against the cage. Cloud throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Cloud with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Cloud tries a knee to the head but Cridle blocks it.
Cloud lands an elbow just above Cridle 's eye. Cridle tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cloud smiles and moves away.
Cloud tries to clinch but Cridle is having none of it. Cloud is looking to clinch but Cridle is avoiding it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cloud gets caught flat footed, as Cridle shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Cridle slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Cridle wants to control but Cloud is keeping him busy. Cridle goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cloud rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Cridle's guard! Nice work there by Cloud! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cridle is trying to control the position but Cloud postures up. Cridle working for a triangle but Cloud defends it easily.
Cloud knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cridle on the ground. Cloud avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cridle is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Cloud has his hands clasped together but Cridle extends an breaks Cloud's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Cridle.
