Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nick Wardle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lyoto Smith!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots in but no luck this time.
Wardle on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wardle as he jumps to the side.
Wardle darts in and clinches Smith up against the cage.
Wardle wants a takedown but no success here.
Smith breaks the clinch.
Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wardle looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Smith wants to clinch but Wardle slips to the side
and Wardle counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Smith looks gassed!
Wardle tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smith swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Wardle. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wardle sizes up Smith with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Smith seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Wardle shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Smith is backing up but Wardle catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Smith covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Wardle Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nick Wardle!
