Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ace Darko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sasha Petrova!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid leg kick lands there for Petrova.
Darko with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Darko throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Petrova makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Darko plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Darko has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Petrova.

Darko shoots in and gets a takedown into Petrova's guard.
Petrova has his hands on Darko's head, controlling the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Darko is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Petrova reverses the position - he's now on top in Darko's guard.
Petrova stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Darko swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Petrova is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Darko regains half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ace Darko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That kick from Darko tenderised Petrova's leg. Petrova is trying to keep his angry face on.
A punch lands to the side of Petrova 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Petrova uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Darko.

Petrova is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Darko.

Petrova fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Darko manages to avoid it.

Darko is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Petrova's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Petrova lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Darko feints and then cracks Petrova's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Petrova down.
Petrova has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Darko throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Darko stuns Petrova with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Petrova keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Darko shoots in looking for a takedown. Petrova tries to sprawl out of it but Darko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Petrova manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ace Darko. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Darko shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Darko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Darko takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Petrova with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Darko to score with a decent uppercut.

and Petrova makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Petrova takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Darko dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Petrova. That did some damage!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ace Darko.
Well Darko has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
