Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juan Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joulu Pukki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez comes to the cage accompanied by Montage. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joulu Pukki!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Joulu Pukki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sanchez tries to land a leg kick but Pukki saw it coming and moves away.
Sanchez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Sanchez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Sanchez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pukki swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sanchez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pukki tries to avoid it but Sanchez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pukki to the ground. Pukki escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sanchez walks into a left hand.
Sanchez fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Pukki doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Pukki seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sanchez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Pukki wants to pass to mount but Sanchez is defending the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sanchez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pukki pulls his head out easily.
Pukki wants to free his trapped foot but Sanchez is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Pukki seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sanchez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Joulu Pukki was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Pukki shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Sanchez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pukki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pukki got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sanchez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pukki has managed to get both his arms back between Sanchez's legs - danger averted.

A close round but Joulu Pukki will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Pukki cracks Sanchez with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Sanchez counters with a body kick that stops Pukki in his tracks momentarily.

Pukki loads up on a big right hand but Sanchez slips the punch.
Sanchez throws a sloppy head kick and Pukki moves out of range easily.
Pukki pivots, looking for a leg kick but Sanchez is out of range and Pukki settles back down.
A punch combination from Sanchez misses.
Pukki moves out of range of the body kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pukki.
Pukki displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sanchez throws out the jab.
Pukki fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Sanchez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pukki moves away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sanchez enables Pukki to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sanchez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Sanchez is pulling down on Pukki's head. It's preventing any offense from Pukki, at least for the moment.

Pukki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sanchez keeps working.

Pukki is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sanchez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pukki.

Pukki stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Juan Sanchez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pukki throws a leg kick which misses Sanchez's front leg but catches the back leg as Sanchez tries to avoid it.

Pukki fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sanchez.
Sanchez buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

A bone on bone clash there as Sanchez blocks the leg kick.
Pukki tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Sanchez is able to avoid easily.

Sanchez takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Pukki throws an overhand right that lands on Sanchez's shoulder, as Sanchez tries to avoid the shot.
Pukki throws a series of strikes that have Sanchez backpedaling.
Sanchez closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pukki jumps guard and drags Sanchez to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Sanchez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pukki is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sanchez, into his guard.

Joulu Pukki is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Pukki has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
