PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Shinji Takahara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Blaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinji Takahara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Phil Blaze!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takahara throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Takahara misses with a wild combination.
Shinji Takahara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick misses from Takahara.
Blaze throws a lazy head kick
and Takahara counters with a head kick. That will keep Blaze thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Takahara lands a slapping body shot.
Blaze motions for Takahara to come forward. Blaze throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Nice body punch from Blaze.
A nice inside leg kick there by Takahara. That's going to slow Blaze down.
Blaze cracks Takahara with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Takahara throws a leg kick which misses Blaze's front leg but catches the back leg as Blaze tries to avoid it.

Blaze throws a body kick that misses.
The crowd cheers as Blaze lands an impressive looking overhand right. Takahara doesn't seem phased though.
Takahara throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Blaze slips under a jab.
Takahara throws a head kick that misses.
Blaze tries to bum rush Takahara with a series of wild strikes but Takahara uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Takahara tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Takahara looks to land a combination but Blaze avoids it well.
Takahara throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Takahara is breathing heavily.
A low kick from Takahara misses
and Blaze counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Takahara motions for Blaze to come forward. Takahara throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Blaze thuds his shin into the meat of Takahara's side.
Takahara blocks the body kick.
Blaze fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Blaze scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Blaze buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Takahara avoids the head kick by Blaze.
Nice shot by Blaze.
Blaze throws a sloppy head kick and Takahara moves out of range easily.
Blaze scores with a jab to the head.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Takahara.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Blaze misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Blaze misses with a double jab.
Blaze digs a good body shot into Takahara's ribs.
Takahara tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Blaze tries a head kick but it misses.
Blaze throws a head kick that misses.
Blaze misses with a head kick.

Blaze lands a head kick that bluckles Takahara and drops him to the canvas. He's still conscious but it looks like it's going to take him the full 10 seconds to get back his senses! He's up on 9 and seems to be just about OK to continue.... the referee agrees and we're back to the action with Blaze no doubt looking to push for a finish!


It looks like Shinji Takahara has been cut.
Blaze fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Takahara looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Blaze lands a head kick that sends Takahara down! Takahara is flopping around the mat trying to get back up, leaving the referee no choice but to wave off the fight! Blaze is victorious!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Phil Blaze!
