Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Kringle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Boyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kringle kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Wating on the world to change, by John Mayer. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chris Kringle! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 12 - 2, fighting out of London, Fred Boyle! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boyle changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kringle looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Boyle working the body and head with strikes. Boyle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kringle keeps working. Kringle tries to improve position but can't. Kringle is working hard here to advance position. Boyle has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Boyle is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kringle has escaped the position, nice work there. Boyle thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Kringle wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Boyle is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kringle is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boyle tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Boyle has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Boyle has control of an arm but Kringle manages to advance to Boyle's back! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boyle just trying to survive but Kringle is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kringle looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
Boyle tries to escape but Kringle has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Kringle softening up his opponent with strikes here.
Kringle avoiding Boyle 's attempts to control his hands. Kringle lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Boyle.
Kringle scores with punches to the body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Boyle is trying to break free.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boyle looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Kringle is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Boyle up.
Boyle rolls, trying to escape but Kringle keeps control of the position.
Kringle is working the ground and pound. Can Boyle escape? Kringle lands a punch to the side of the head from the back. Boyle is trapped and Kringle is scoring with shots to the head and body. Kringle scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Boyle is looking for a way out.
Boyle is rocked! Kringle has Boyle flattened out and is raining down punches. Boyle is still in real trouble! Can Kringle finish him? Kringle lands shots to the head and Boyle turtles up! The ref has seen enough and stops the fight! This one is over!
