The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hodges looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Hodges closes the distance and clinches.

Del Fuago wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hodges has him pressed against the cage.
Hodges jumps into guard, dragging Del Fuago to the mat.
Hodges is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Del Fuago is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hodges is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hodges has escaped and now he's on top!

Hodges wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Del Fuago, who protects the arm well.
Del Fuago is trying to control Hodges's posture but Hodges avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hodges tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hodges has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Del Fuago tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hodges wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hodges is looking to take a break and control but Del Fuago is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Del Fuago tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Del Fuago won't allow Hodges to pass to mount.
Hodges looks gassed!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Del Fuago tries to roll over but Hodges keeps him under control.

Del Fuago is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hodges pulls his head out easily.
Del Fuago is looking for a sweep. Hodges is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Hodges is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Del Fuago is not content to let Hodges control the position.
Del Fuago wants to improve his position but Hodges is controlling well.

That's time! Del Fuago's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hodges clinches.
Del Fuago jumps guard but Hodges stands there with Del Fuago around his waist. Del Fuago gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Del Fuago tries to pull guard but Hodges forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Hodges manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Del Fuago postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Del Fuago passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hodges takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Del Fuago looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Hodges is trying to control Del Fuago's posture but Del Fuago avoids it.

Hodges regains half guard.
Del Fuago working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Hodges's thigh. Hodges counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Del Fuago looking to sit in guard and control but Hodges gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hodges must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hodges wants to control from the top but Del Fuago keeps moving.
Del Fuago is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hodges is aware though and is defending well.
Hodges drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hodges jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hodges wants to control from the top but Del Fuago keeps moving.
Hodges has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Del Fuago to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Hodges is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Del Fuago pulls down on the head and he's put Hodges to sleep! This one is all over!
