PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kevin Kelly was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jordan Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kevin Kelly!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kelly scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Jackson wants to control but Kelly passes into side.
Jackson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kelly's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Kelly is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Kelly postures up.
Jackson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kelly is controlling him.
Kelly lands a couple of digs.
Kelly throwing strikes but missing.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Jackson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kelly is aware though and is defending well.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kelly on the ground.
Kelly wants to stand but Jackson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kelly trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kelly takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Kelly wants to pass to mount but Jackson is defending the position.
Jackson is refusing to be controlled, as Kelly sits in half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackson looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Jackson tries to roll over but Kelly keeps him under control.
Kelly wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.
Kelly has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kelly blocks the strikes from Jackson.
It looks like Kelly is going to stand back up.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Jackson is in trouble now - Kelly has advanced to mount!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jackson throwing hammer fists to the chest of Kelly. What's that going to do exactly?

Kelly has control of Jackson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jackson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Jackson tries to hold on but Kelly pushes him away.

Jackson tries to reverse the position but Kelly maintains control.
Jackson is breathing heavily.
Jackson is in a horrible position here. Kelly smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.


It looks like Jordan Jackson has been cut.
Kelly blocks Jackson's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Jackson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Jackson is looking to improve his position.
Jackson misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Kelly sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jackson defending well though.

Kelly is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kelly is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jackson tries to reverse the position but Kelly maintains control.

Kelly with shots to the head and body - Jackson looks very uncomfortable down there.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Kelly lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jordan Jackson's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Kevin Kelly!
A less than humble Kevin Kelly misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
