Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frederick Wordsworth Ward! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Jones! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones slaps away a takedown attempt from Wordsworth Ward, before circling back to the center of the mat. Wordsworth Ward shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Wordsworth Ward is looking for a kimura but Jones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wordsworth Ward to get the leverage. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth. Wordsworth Ward wants to work for an arm triangle but Jones is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wordsworth Ward. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wordsworth Ward wants to free his trapped foot but Jones is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wordsworth Ward seems to be looking for submissions.
Wordsworth Ward seems to be working for a kimura but Jones defends the submission attempt. Jones tries to kick Wordsworth Ward off but Wordsworth Ward keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Wordsworth Ward is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Jones is trying to stand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wordsworth Ward is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Jones to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jones shrugs it off. Jones is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Wordsworth Ward is working for a guillotine from mount but Jones frees his head quite easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wordsworth Ward is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Jones is in real trouble.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Wordsworth Ward is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Jones is defending well though. Wordsworth Ward let's go of the attempt for now. Wordsworth Ward working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Jones is doing well to defend. Wordsworth Ward seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Jones is forced to tap and this one is over!
